Tips for Squeezing Exercise in to Your Day
09 Dec 2015 1 Minute Read
If you’re like most women, finding a 30 to 45 minute block of time for exercise each day is next to impossible.
Luckily, fitting in small bursts of activity throughout the course of a day can help you feel better about your health. So the next time you have a spare 10 minutes, try one of these exercises that busy people (you!) can squeeze into your schedule.
No more couch potato
If you find yourself sitting in front of the TV for an evening, make up a little circuit to complete during the ad breaks – be it sit-ups, lunges, chair dips… you name it. With the amount of ads packed into free-to-air television these days, that can add up to a nice little chunk of exercise time.
Extend that paper run
If you’re heading outside to grab the newspaper or mail out of the letterbox, go for a quick walk up the street and back. Easy!
Bid farewell to the elevator
Really, truly, taking the stairs wherever possible will help increase your step counts for the day.
Park further away
Leaving your car a few blocks away from the shops may add five or 10 minutes on to your errands, but it will feel good to add those five or so minutes on to your exercise tab for that day.
Do the sideline shimmy
Don’t just stand on the sideline next time you’re at your son or daughter’s football match. Keep an eye on proceedings while you stroll around the edge of the field instead.
Stretch it out
Take a few minutes at the end of the day to do some long, languid stretching. You’ll feel much more relaxed after what’s probably been a hectic day – and ready to do it all again tomorrow!
